The subjects in my Devil’s Claw series are the seed pods to the Devil’s Claw plant. Devil’s Claw is a hardy desert dwelling plant and can be found in deserts all over the world. The seed pods I photographed for my series are from the Sonoran Desert, which I found while out scouting for a location for a commercial shoot.
This series took a couple weeks to shoot and was shot with the same medium format film camera I used for my portrait series. The film was later scanned to size for creating these large pieces. Similar to the portrait series, this series was also shot only using natural light as a light source.
The picture below is of some of the polaroids I shot while creating the series.
